About David Trusnik

Born in Clevland, Ohio, I showed an interest in drums at a very early age. I played on Toy drum sets and at four Years old I got my very first professional drum set bought by my Father, my Father also being in a Band Known as "Born Rude," their Drummer Mike Bunner gave me lessons, but I soon quit, I did not like the work involved I just wanted to play. Growing older also meant the growth of my talent and Drum Set. I was inspired by Buddy Rich* Neil Peart of Rush, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Dave Weckl, and Terry Bozzio and I still admire them. Mainly into Metal I listen to a wide range of music such as Jazz, Fusion, Big Band, and Rock. School gave a way to show off my talent on the drums. In my freshmen year I joined Orchestra, where I met the best Music Director, Michael Shively. Mike really made me work on my Chops and Ear, he made it fun to work. Sophmore and Junior years I was in the Marching/Concert Band and not to mention the JAZZ ENSEMBLE, Senior year being in the same three also decided to Join along with the Music Express Show Choir Band. I Recieved many Awards, Trophies, and Scholarships. Two Years straight Outstanding Rhythm Section Soloist from the university of Findlay Jazz Fests 98 and 99. I also have Outstanding Musicianship Citations from Lakeland Community College Jazz Fests 97, 98 and 99, Cuyahoga Community College Jazz Fests 97, 98 and 99, and J.W. Harvey- Lentines music Jazz Festival of 97. As far as Scholarships go, I recieved a five-hundred dollar Talent Grant for first year of study at Lakeland Community College as a music major, and a one-thousand dollar scholarship to attend Berkley's College of Music 5 week summer performance program. While in school he had the chance to go play at Cleveland's Gund Arena with Country Star Shania Twain due to my school having he best Can/Food Drive. During that time I also had a metal band known as "BADMUTHALOAD." This band didn't last too long since we had incompetent singers, but I'm not gonna go into it any more then I have. I started giving lessons but soon gave that up due to not having enough students. Currently, my father and I are looking for new members for our project, Also I am trying to get my own Big Band going as if you didn't know Buddy Rich is my biggest influence of all time. Now I am almost 20 years old I think I have accomplished much.
